Budget Information

Funding Sources

The Black Butte Ranch Police Department (BBRPD) is a County Service District and therefore establishes its own tax on the homes of Black Butte Ranch.  In FY 2027, over 93.5% of our funding came from the levy, while the remaining 6.5% came from grants, citiation revenue, service fees, and interest on our bank accounts.

Fiscal Year

The BBRPD fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th.

Budget Process

Budgeting is a year round project for us. However, the bulk of the work occurs in the months of February and March when we are confirming our fixed costs and planning for the next year. Once complete, the budget is presented to the District's Managing Board for a first review in March, and a final approval in April.

Once the Managing Board has approved the budget, it must receive a final approval from our Governing Board, The Board of County Commisioners (BOCC).  In May of each year the Chief of Police presents the finalized budget to the BOCC for their approval. Once approved, the new budget will go into effect on July 1st.
