Seeking Candidates for Two Open Positions for the Black Butte Ranch Police Board

The BBR Police Special District is seeking interested BBR Homeowners to fill two vacant positions on the Managing Board.
To be qualified you must own property at Black Butte Ranch that pays Deschutes County Tax and be available to attend (in person or electronically) monthly meetings of the BBR Police District Board. Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month except in December. Periodically, special meetings are called. Candidates cannot have been convicted of a felony.
The important abilities, knowledge and traits in a BBR Police Board member:
Ability to be an engaged and collaborative member of a Board that proactively assists the Service District (police department) in identifying safety issues we have on the Ranch, including but not limited to traffic, access, and increased community policing
Ability and willingness to commit to engaging in Board sub-committees including but not limited to the evaluation of the police chief; reviews of Service District policies and procedures; representing the Board on hiring of Service District personnel; budgetary matters; and collective bargaining agreement processes
A commitment to be prepared for monthly meetings by reviewing all documents prior to the meeting and collaboratively engaging in the discussions. Ability to effectively execute the Boards Public Meeting Responsibilities by participating in a business like manner, uphold confidentiality and following public meeting law.

Application and Selection Process
Applications due by October 3, 2025: Interested BBR Homeowners complete the application (link to application) and return it to Susan Waddell, Chair of the Special District Managing Board by October 3rd. Applications will be reviewed by a committee assigned by the BBR Police Board to recruit candidates.
Interviews Conducted October 7-9, 2025: Selected candidates will be contacted and interviews will be scheduled on dates and times they are available. Candidates may choose in person or Zoom interviews.
Board Selects New Members October 16, 2025 - The interview team presents recommendations to the BBR Police Board. New members are then confirmed by the Deschutes County Commissioners.
